Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring kids?
All ages are welcome. We don’t offer any discounts based on age because we’re selling seats, but small children can ride for free if their parents can hold them on their laps.

Does the bus have a bathroom?
Yes, there will be a bathroom on the bus. Additionally, the bus will stop at a rest stop on the way to NYC and on the way back to Harrisburg where you will be able to use the bathroom.

What if I already paid but can't go?
Sorry, payments are non-refundable. However, if we are able to fill your seat with someone from the waiting list, you will receive a refund. If you want to sell your spot on the bus to a friend, just email us that person's name and phone number so that we have them on the boarding list. If you can't go and we can't refund payment, then consider it a charitable donation to the American Cancer Society.

What if the weather is bad?
It is unlikely that we would cancel the trip due to weather. In the event of a cancellation, the trip would be postponed and everyone would be notified by phone.

Will we be able to leave things on the bus during the day?
Yes, you can leave things on the bus while we are in NYC, but please don't leave anything valuable.

Do I need a ticket to get on the bus?
No, you don't need a ticket to board because we have everyone's name on a list.

Where does the bus depart from and where do we park?
The bus leaves from the JPL parking lot. JPL is located in Harrisburg just off of Chambers Hill Rd at 471 JPL Wick Dr, Harrisburg, PA 17111.

What does the ticket price include?
The cost includes a round trip ticket to NYC from Harrisburg. We'll have some DVDs to keep you entertained and there will be a 50/50 raffle and one other game to raise a little extra money. Once we arrive in the city, you'll be on your own and you'll be responsible for getting back to W 53rd St & Broadway to meet the bus. Gratuities for the bus driver are included.

Where will the bus drop us off in NYC?
The bus will drop off at or near W 53rd St & Broadway and pick up at the same location.

What should I bring?
You don't need to bring anything, but you might want to have some of these things:

JPL United began in 2004 by JPL employees in memory of Joseph Surges, a former co-worker who passed away in December 2003 from brain cancer. We participate in Relay For Life of Hershey every summer. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
